Biomes
Yosemite Biome is Boreal Forest or also known as a Taiga Forest- Overlying formerly glaciated areas and areas of patchy permafrost, the forest is mosaic of successional and sub-climax plant communities sensitive to varying environmental condition
The vast majority of the park is boreal forest. At the lowest elevations (at the base of the valley) there is a narrow strip of temperate forest.
Yosemite has different elevations from the valley floor to the high Sierra because of that, there are 5 vegetation zones in the park)
Foothill Woodland Zone (including wetlands)- small to medium-sized trees, composed of one or more species of Quercus, often mixed with Pinus sabiniana and/or Aesculus californica.
Lower Montane Forest Is a plant community along a strip along the western edge of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California.
Upper Montane forest is Also referred to as moss forest or cloud forest, with vegetation cover at 20-25 m. At this altitude range, trees are gnarled, crooked and stunted.
Subalpine Forest is the biotic zone immediately below tree line around the world. Species that occur in this zone depend on the location of the zone on the Earth
